Atmospheric Seascapes in Soft Pastel with Kevin Scully is a one-day pastel workshop on Saturday, 19th September 2026, 10am-4pm, at Jackson’s Attic Studio at Griffin Mill. Located in Thrupp, near Stroud, in Gloucestershire, Griffin Mill is an atmospheric converted Victorian mill in the heart of the stunning Cotswolds. All abilities welcome.

In this workshop, you’ll be using soft pastels on pastel paper to create atmospheric and expressive seascapes. You will be introduced to several established techniques for working with this vibrant medium, alongside approaches that may be new to you.

If drawing is not your strongest skill, this subject matter is well suited to building confidence. The direct application of soft pastels encourages quick, expressive strokes, allowing you to capture fleeting moments such as the movement of waves as they break onto the shore. You will be guided through material choices and colour blending techniques to achieve both subtle transitions and more dramatic effects.

There will be reference images available for you to use on the day.
